Network Rail letter to Newquay residents
Network Rail has written a letter to local residents in Newquay to let them know about the start of work at Newquay station as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project.
Teams will be on site from Tuesday 13 August until Monday 28 October, working from 8am to 5pm. They will also occasionally be working overnight between 11pm and 7am.
The work begins the project to restore a second platform at Newquay to bring more trains to the town. From May next year, trains will leave Newquay every hour, start earlier in the day and finish later. When Mid Cornwall Metro is complete in 2026, direct trains will run from Newquay to Falmouth.
The letter continues: “While we work, there will be fewer car parking spaces available at Newquay station. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.
“The nature of our work often means some noise is unavoidable. We’re aware we will be working close to your home and will try to minimise this as much as possible, but we’re sorry if we do disturb you.”
