Active Travel Phase One – Edgcumbe Avenue

cormac-road-closure-map

The Mid Cornwall Metro Active Travel project in Newquay is progressing well, and Cormac will soon move on to the improvements to the junction of Cliff Road and Edgcumbe Avenue.

Due to the nature of this particular section of work and to provide a safe working space, a road closure is needed on a section of Edgcumbe Avenue from the 24th to 28th March inclusive.

As shown in the above diagram, the closure will be in place from the Jackpot Amusement Arcade to the junction of Edgcumbe Gardens, including the lane at The Edgcliff Snooker & Pool venue (which leads to Tolcarne Road).

Access for pedestrians and the emergency services will be maintained throughout, and where possible for those vehicles needing to access the closed section. However, there will be no through-route for vehicles until the closure is lifted and no turning space. A signed diversion route will be in place and can be seen on the plan.

The works consist of the realignment of the junction and the pedestrian crossing, and will include installation of tactile paving and ducting. Some of the work can unfortunately be noisy and those living nearby are likely to experience some short-term disruption. Please be assured that every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum and reduce disturbance wherever possible.
